Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – IPCC

On Sunday, 3 April, Working Group III (WGIII) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) continued its line-by-line review of the draft text of the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the WGIII contribution to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report. WGIII focuses on mitigation of climate change.

Following the fourth scheduled plenary session on Saturday, delegates worked overnight and continued throughout all of Sunday to review and approve text from across the SPM, including: the introduction and framing; recent developments and current trends; system transformations to limit global warming; linkages between mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development; and strengthening the response. Delegates also convened in a series of huddles to resolve sticking points and finalize text for consideration in plenary.

On Sunday evening (UTC), delegates completed their review. IPCC-56 will convene on Monday for its closing session, during which it is expected to formally approve the Summary for Policymakers of the WGIII contribution to AR6 and accept the underlying technical assessment report.
