After a day's break, Working Group III (WGIII) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) resumed its work to finalize the draft text of the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) of the WGIII contribution to the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report. WGIII’s contribution focuses on mitigation of climate change.

As they moved into the second week of deliberations, delegates met in three plenary sessions to review and approve text related to: linkages between mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable development; strengthening the response to climate change; and system transformations to limit global warming. As of Monday, each section of the Summary has been opened for consideration.

In contact group meetings, delegates discussed sections and subsections in the SPM relating to, inter alia:

  • demand-side system transformations;
  • sustainable development; and
  • low-emissions technologies and transformations across the energy sector.

WGIII will continue its work on Tuesday, 29 March.
