The thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Basel Convention, eighth meeting of the COP to the Rotterdam Convention, and eighth meeting of the COP to the Stockholm Convention will convene back-to-back 24 April to 5 May 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. The meetings will include joint sessions of the COPs on issues that are on the agendas of at least two of the three Conventions, including international cooperation and coordination among the three Conventions, technical assistance, financial resources and mechanisms, and programmes of work and budgets. The COPs will also undertake a review of the synergies arrangements for the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions.

Other issues to be addressed during the meetings include, inter alia, the listing of new chemicals under the Stockholm and Rotterdam Conventions, and adoption of technical guidelines and follow-up to the Indonesian-Swiss Country-Led Initiative under the Basel Convention.

On Thursday 4 May, ministers, deputy ministers and ambassadors will participate in a high-level segment consisting of ministerial roundtable discussions. The high-level segment will continue on Friday in plenary, at which time the outcomes of each roundtable will be reported to participants.
